Ginger Pear Sangria
Ginger Pear Sangria Ginger Pear Sangria
A little different but so refreshing, pear and ginger make an impressive combination in this slightly sweet white sangria. Goes great with spicy Asian food.
SERVES: 8
PREP TIME: 10 Minutes
COOK TIME: Minutes
Ingredients

1 bottle of Vouvray
1/4 cup sugar
1-1/2 cup ginger ale
2 cup pear juice
2 - 3 Anjou pears
1 lemon
Fresh ginger
1/2 cup brandy (optional)
ice cubes

Directions
Step 1  Step 1:
Chill wine, pear juice and ginger ale. Peel one inch of the ginger root, then cut the peeled section into very thin slices. Cut lemon into thin slices. Gently wash pears. Just before mixing sangria cut pears in half, remove stem and core and cut into thin slices (don't cut too far in advance of mixing or pear slices will turn brown).

Step 2  Step 2:
Pour cold wine, pear juice, ginger ale, sugar and brandy (optional) into a 2.5 quart pitcher. Stir to mix well. Add the sliced ginger, lemon and pear, stir gently to mix. Can be made and refrigerated up to one hour prior to serving. Just before serving add ice cubes to the pitcher.

Step 3  SERVING SUGGESTION::
Make ice cubes with remaining pear juice.

Cut a whole pear into thin slices the width of the fruit, leave the any core. Then make a cut into each slice and place them on the edge of the serving glasses.

For some additional spice, serve with a cinnamon stick with each glass to use as a stir stick.
